Thor: Teaser Trailer

If you’re one of the many people across the globe who enjoyed Iron Man 2 (particularly the section after the credits), but thought it lacked realism, and could have benefitted from having a hero who’s a Norse God, running around the modern-day U.S. hitting things with a mystical hammer, then you’re in luck; as Marvel Studios next movie promises all that and more.

Having only released the movie’s official poster yesterday, Marvel have now released the teaser trailer for Thor (which can be seen below); a film which is adapted from a Marvel comic series, and focusses on the adventures of Thor (the God of Thunder), who is banished from his home-world of Asgard and forced to live on Earth after carelessly rekindling an ancient war.

Starring as Thor, Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek) will have to faced being banished from his home by his father; Odin (ruler of Asgard); and fight of the darkest forces of his former home, when his adoptive brother Loki attempts to use them to invade Thor’s new home; Earth.

Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs) appears as Odin, with Tom Hiddleston (Conspiracy) as Loki, and Natalie Portman (Black Swan) as Thor’s love interest; Jane Foster; in the Kenneth Branagh (Valkyrie) directed film which finished shooting in May, and will have it’s 3D release next year.

Next year’s release however won’t be the final time audiences will get to see Thor; because after the adventures of this film (which is due to be released on April 29th in the U.K., and on May 6th in the U.S.), the God of Thunder will be appearing as part of The Avengers ensemble in 2012, and could potentially have his own direct-sequel movies further down the road.
