ST. JAMES PLACEDespite filming having finished last year, there’s never been an official name announced for the latest Steven Spielberg (Lincoln) movie; something which has now changed as a recent reveal informed us Spielberg’s upcoming Cold War thriller will be known as Bridge Of Spies.

Based on the tale of James Donovan; the lawyer who attempted to negotiate the release of pilot Gary Powers, whose U2 spy plane was shot down over Russia during the height of the Cold War (in the 1960s); Bridge Of Spies takes its name from the infamous prisoner-exchange point connecting Wannsee and Potsdam (where the West and the Soviets traded several high-profile prisoners during the Cold War), and looks to shed light on a largely unknown true tale.

Tom Hanks (Saving Private Ryan) is set to star as Donovan, and will share screen time with Amy Ryan (Birdman), Alan Alda (The Blacklist), Austin Stowell (Whiplash), and Mark Rylance (The Other Boleyn Girl), when Bridge Of Spies is released on October 9th in the UK, before making its official US release date on October 16th.
