He’s already well versed in bringing successful World War II properties to the screen; starring in Saving Private Ryan, and serving as Executive Producer on both Band of Brothers and The Pacific; but Tom Hanks is continuing to delve into the wealth of story telling opportunities provided by WWII, having written an upcoming naval drama titled Greyhound.

Hanks will also be producing (through his Playtone company), and is hoping to star in the film which already has Get Low director Aaron Schneider attached, and is due to follow a naval officer who’s handed command of a Navy destroyer and has to prove he’s worthy of the captain’s chair.

If you’re in the US, Hanks can currently be seen in the Box Office hit biopic Sully (which unfortunately isn’t being released in the UK until December 2nd), and will also be seen in next month’s Inferno (released on October 14 in the UK, and on October 28 in the US.
