Tom Hardy to Star in Batman 3

While the release date for the third Batman film in the current franchise’s run isn’t due to be released for almost another two years, news and rumours are again starting to fly, concerning cast members, possible villains, start dates, and just about everything else imaginable; although buried amongst the rumours, are a few juicy bits of actual news.

The first real bit of news (which is barely classed as news at all to most people, as it was taken as all but a given anyway), is that Christopher Nolan; the man who directed the last two Batman movies, and is generally known as the man who completely rejuvenated the franchise, and made it was it is today; recently confirmed that he will, once again, be stepping behind the camera, and directing the Dark Knight’s sequel.

More recently however, Tom Hardy (who made his name playing the prison hard-man Charles Bronson, in Bronson) has been attached to the film, in an unknown, but ‘major’, role that insiders are reluctant to reveal; although all indications point to him playing the film’s villain.

But even if Hardy has signed on to play the movie’s villain, that gives little indication of his actual role, as everyone close to the picture is making sure to keep a tight lid on the focus of the film, and is refusing to reveal which comic-book villain Batsy will be up against this time out.

It’s still good news for Hardy’s fans however, as not only will he be reuniting with Christopher Nolan (after the pair worked together on Inception), but he has managed to fill the gap in his schedule, that has been left by the production of the Mad Max reboot; Mad Max: Fury Road; stalling for a possible two years.

The script is once again being written by Jonah Nolan (Chris’ brother), and David S. Goyer (Blade), and the hotly anticipated movie is due to be released on July 20th 2012, and so far, unlike practically every future film planned by Warner Bros., it looks like it will stay in the 2D realm.
