Tom Wilkinson Joins The Lone Ranger

With the Social Network’s Armie Hammer cast as the titular Lone Ranger; the do-gooder from the popular radio and TV show; Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean) picking up the part of his sidekick Tonto, and Gore Verbinski (Rango) attached to direct, all that remains before shooting can begin is to fill the supporting parts; which may have just found a taker in Tom Wilkinson.

Full Monty/The Green Hornet star Tom Wilkinson is up for the part of a railroad tycoon who reportedly plays a prominent role in the film’s pilot; although details of the character, and his inclination towards good or evil haven’t yet been specified (though being a railroad tycoon, he’s likely to be the ruthless baddie of the movie).

Scheduled to film later this year (once Depp is done working on Dark Shadows, and Hammer is free from Snow White), Disney’s The Lone Ranger is due to be released in the US on December 21st 2012, and will likely have a UK release date sometime around then.
