While it undoubtedly had a rather strained time in pre-production, cameras have finally started rolling on the big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower; a fact which hasn’t stopped the cast list growing, as Vikings‘ Kathryn Winnick has just signed on to star.

Best known as Vikings‘ shield maiden Lagertha, it’s unclear who Winnick will be playing in The Dark Tower; King’s epic dark fantasy tale which has Luther‘s Idris Elba headlining as The Gunslinger, and Interstellar‘s Matthew McConaughey starring as the villainous Man In Black.

Jackie Earle Haley (Shutter Island), Fran Kranz (Training Day), Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road), and Claudia Kim (Avengers: Age Of Ultron) are also set to star in the Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) directed film which is due to be released on February 17th next year.
