Walking Dead’s Maggie Joins Batman V Superman

With the release date drawing ever closer, it’s fairly surprising to hear of new casting announcements at this stage, yet The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan (better known as Maggie) has now been confirmed as starring in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Cohan will play Martha Wayne, aka Bruce Wayne/Batman’s mother; yes, even though Bats V Supes is set over a decade after Bruce begins to protect Gotham as the Caped Crusader, director Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) has decided he needs to include the iconic moment Bruce’s parents were killed.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Salvation) will be picking up the part of  Thomas Wayne (Bruce’s father) – an interesting twist as Jeff is also set to join the cast of The Walking Dead in the latter half of season six (next month) as the hugely fan-pleasing villain Negan.

Ben Affleck (Argo) will star as Batman, with Henry Cavill reprising his Man of Steel role as Superman, in the film which will pit the two heroes (and their competing ideologies) against one another before not only introducing a large-scale threat for the pair to face, but also squeezing Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot, Furious 7), The Flash (Ezra Miller, Trainwreck), and Aquaman (Jason Momoa, Conan The Barbarian) into the mix, in order to set up the eventual Justice League crossover movie, when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is released on March 25th.
