Warcraft Breaks Chinese Box Office Records

Warcraft- The Beginning Poster

The Chinese film market is becoming more and more influential all the time, as whilst the Warcraft movie may not have been received quite as well as the studio hoped it would here, and is predicted to be something of a bomb in the US market, it earned over $90 million in a mere two days (according to early estimates) in China.

Those figures mean Warcraft earned not only the biggest Thursday of all-time in China, but the biggest opening day for a non-weekend release (opening on a Wednesday) there; huge figures considering not only the size of the Chinese market (where Legendary has heavily promoted the film, and opened in over 67.5% of mainland theatres), but the fact Warcraft is predicted to open to a soft (and wholly disappointing) $22-$24 million in the US this weekend.
