Wargames Reboot on the Way

Despite being a well renowned classic, and a film that truly frightened a large number of filmgoers when it was released during the Cold War, as it was a largely technologically based film, Wargames has dated quite a bit in the 25 years since it was released, and like so many other ‘80s movies, is now undergoing the remake treatment.

Seth Gordon (King of Kong) is now attached to direct the movie for MGM; which will undoubtedly involve today’s highly superior technology, and the fact that everyone uses the internet to re-tell the tale of a child who may inadvertently kick-start world war three, if he keeps playing simulations with a military computer he’s hacked into.

So far no production dates, casting announcements, or release date has been announced, though it’s expected more will come as soon as the script is finalized, and Gordon has his next release; Horrible Bosses (which is being released next month); firmly behind him.
