Warrior’s Gavin O’Connor to Direct The Samurai

While writer/director Gavin O’Connor’s latest movie; Warrior; is still doing the rounds at cinemas worldwide, and received some fairly high praise, it’s not exactly been a Box Office smash, though that hasn’t stopped Warner Bros. breaking a high six-figure deal to acquire the rights to his next picture; The Samurai.

Co-written by Shark Tale’s Michael J. Wilson, O’Connor’s The Samurai will tell the tale of a rogue assassin who breaks out of jail, before becoming involved with a woman and her child, and racing off on a globe trotting adventure that takes the trio from the US to Costa Rica, Colombia, Paris, and back again; with an international manhunt on on their heels.

While no specific start date, release date, or stars, have been announced at this point, Warner Bros. are hoping to get production underway fairly quickly; as Gavin is currently working on crafting a stage play adaptation of The Hustler (the Walter Tevis novel which became the 1961 movie of the same name); and so some further announcements concerning The Samurai should be expected fairly shortly.
