Westworld Poster

Loosely based on Michael Crichton’s classic sci-fi thriller of the same name, HBO’s upcoming series Westworld looks to be all kinds of wonderful, creepy, dramatic, and thrilling; as you can see by the newly released poster on the right (click to view full size), and trailer below.

Set in a massive theme park, based on the old west and populated with extremely life-like robots, Westworld is a place where any and every human desire can be fulfilled; no matter how deranged or depraved.

Based on the 1973 film, which starred Yul Brenner, co-writer Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises) has said the new series will “keep the brilliant, subversive idea of the set-up: what if there was a place you could go and act out your darkest fantasies with no consequences”, but where, of course, there are consequences; as the robots eventually begin to become self-aware, and turn against their tormentors.

Starring Evan Rachel Wood (The Wrestler), Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs), Ed Harris (The Rock), James Marsden (X-Men), Thandie Newtown (2012), Jeffrey Wright (Source Code), and Tessa Thompson (Creed), Westworld will premiere on HBO on October 2, and will likely be hopping over to Sky Atlantic soon after.
