Will Smith and Russell Crowe Join Winter’s Tale

Coming from writer/producer/debut director Akiva Goldsmand (who’s had a bit of time freed up since Universal cancelled their adaptation of Dark Tower), the upcoming adaptation of Mark Helprin’s 1983 novel Winter’s Tale has recently added two impressive names to its cast list; Will Smith (Men In Black) and Russell Crowe (The Next Three Days).

Smith is due to play a judge, and Crowe a mob boss (named Pearly Soames), in the movie which involves an orphaned Irish burglar, a dying girl, a mob boss, street gangs, settings in both 19th century New York and modern day Manhattan, and a flying horse, but should get some extra financial backing with the big names attached, and will presumably start shooting soon after a lead actor is found.
