We currently have a number of writing positions available, and are always on the lookout for dedicated, talented, people to join the team; writing news items, feature articles, or reviews; and we could have a position for you.
General Reviewer:
This role involves reviewing all types of movies, TV series’, and other material; be that by reviewing the latest Blu-ray and DVD releases (complete with discussions of picture and sound quality, as well as available special features), reviewing films that are currently playing at your local cinema, or possibly by attending some advanced screenings.
News Writer:
At Good Film Guide we aim to keep our readers up-to-date with the the latest news on upcoming movies and TV shows; with casting announcements, updates on future projects, and trailers, as well as any other important information; and as such we need people that are keen to keep up-to-date with such things, preferably have ties to the industry (although that’s not essential), are diligent about checking their facts, and can provide accurate articles in a timely manner.
Feature Writer:
Whilst our feature section isn’t currently updated as regularly as other sections, we’re interested in a number of possible inclusions; such as interviews with people in the industry, top tens, comparisons and discussions about film trends/format issues, cinema quality, or Home Theatre information; and would be willing to consider any feature ideas put forward, as we are looking for captivating and original articles relating to any and all aspects of film, that will appeal to a broad range of readers.
General Contributor:
Just because the website itself is categorized, it doesn’t necessarily mean our writers have to be; as we’re more than happy to consider people that are looking to write for more than one section of the site; meaning that reviewers can easily write feature articles, or update the news section, should the need arise, or mood take.
Requirements:
As all writing positions are unpaid (because all money made by Good Film Guide is re-invested back into the site), any applicant must have a keen interest in film and television, be committed to providing a certain level of accurate and engaging content, and have regular access to the internet and private email facilities.
All reviewers must also be aged 18 or over (the sole requirement for writers looking to review only cinema releases), and have a 32” HD-Ready widescreen television (or greater), a surround sound system (5.1 minimum) capable of playing the Dolby Digital format; with the ability to playback High-Definition audio formats being a bonus; and preferably a Blu-ray player, with the ability to take screen captures of DVD’s and Blu-rays being preferable, but not essential.
Application Instructions:
To apply for a writing position with Good Film Guide, send an example of your work; reviewers should send in a detailed review of any Blu-ray/DVD they want (in the style of a Good Film Guide review), while news writers should forward a news article, and feature writers should send a complete feature article; to applications@goodfilmguide.co.uk, along with details about yourself.
