Choosing to announce their official nominations this year via Facebook (at 7:35 this morning), we now know who’s up to potentially receive a shiny golden face at the 2015 BAFTA Awards; with The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Theory Of Everything, and Birdman clearly leading the way in terms of nominations.
Budapest received a total of 11 nominations, both The Theory and Birdman came away with 10, and Nightcrawler also earned three nods (falling slightly behind Pride; which had four), though many commentators were shocked to learn of the absence (aside from cinematography, and a handful of production nods) of Mr. Turner in the Best Film, and Best Actor categories; believing it to not only be a great film, but led by a fantastic performance from Timothy Spall.
Stephen Fry will once again present the BAFTA Awards, from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, on February 8th.
As always you can let us know your thoughts on the nominations; what’s missing, what didn’t deserve to be included, or what/who you want to win; in the comments section below.
