This afternoon saw the announcements for this year’s Oscars; the 87th Academy Awards ceremony (due to take place on February 22nd in LA); and included both a number of expected announcements, and a few rather shocking snubs (including not only The Lego Movie failing to earn a nod for best animated movie, but Jake Gyllenhaal missing out on a best actor mention for Nightcrawler).

Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel tied for the title of film with the most nominations (both securing 9 nods in various categories), with The Theory Of Everything earning an impressive 8 nominations, and both American Sniper and Boyhood walking away with 6.

Neil Patrick Harris will  present the Academy Awards, for the first time, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, on February 22nd.

As always you can let us know your thoughts on the nominations; what’s missing, what didn’t deserve to be included, or what/who you want to win; in the comments section below.
