Once again proving that cancer is today’s hot topic, and attempting to bring the journey to death home with a splash of comedy (ala Funny People, The Big C, and to a certain extent Breaking Bad), 50/50 is the latest movie to feature an everyman who gets the Big C, and has to deal with the fallout of potentially facing his own demise, and has just had its first trailer released online (now available to view below).
Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception) stars as Adam; the young lad who’s informed he has a 50/50 chance of living; and spends the film battling the disease with the help of his oafish yet well intention friend Kyle (Seth Rogen, The Green Hornet), and his doctor Katie (Anna Kendrick, Twilight).
Based on the real-life experiences of writer Will Reiser, the Jonathan Levine (The Wackness) directed movie follows Adam through his diagnosis, and chemotherapy treatments, as he tries to use his condition to pick up girls, and sees it affect his emotional stability, and is due to be released in the US on the 30th September, but doesn’t have a confirmed UK release date as of yet.
