Coming from Seth Grahame-Smith (The Hard Times of RJ Berger writer/director who’s credited with working on Tim Burton’s upcoming Dark Shadows adaptation), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter presents an alternate history (or so we’re led to believe) that sees America’s 16th president leading a life that sees him constantly battling the US’ vampire plague (aside from his duties of unifying the states, and winning the Civil War), and has just had its first posters released online (now available to view below).
Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) is directing the film, which is being produced by Sleepy Hollow’s Tim Burton, features Benjamin Walker (Flags of Our Fathers) as the titular bearded president, and gives Abe an added incentive to rid the US of the blood-sucking vampires when his mother is brutally murdered by a vamp.
Abe gets a spot of training at the hands of Henry Sturgess (Dominic Cooper, The Devil’s Double), and we also get a glimpse at his marriage to Mary Todd Lincoln (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, The Thing), and his conflict with Adam (Rufus Sewell, A Knight’s Tale), as he battles to not only win the Civil War, unite the states, and abolish slavery, but also rid the world of the fanged menace that plagues the US, in the film which is due to be released on June 22nd in the US, but won’t make its UK release date until August 2nd.
