There’s no denying that Dracula has been done to death, but nevertheless Sony are pushing ahead with their latest incarnation of Bram Stoker’s classic vampire legend, and dropping him into a child-friendly3D cartoon titled Hotel Transylvania, where he will be voiced by Big Daddy’s Adam Sandler.
This new Dracula is likely to be much less bite-y than we’ve seen him before, as he’s being billed as an overprotective dad who’s simply trying to keep his daughter Mavis safe; and away from the big bad world, by keeping her in his monster-friendly hotel; which isn’t as easy as he expected, when a mortal named Jonathan (Andy Samberg, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs) checks in, and starts to fancy the young vampire.
Hotel Transylvania also boasts the voice talent of a number of Sandler’s regular collaborators; including David Spade (Grown Ups) as Quasimodo, Kevin James (Grown Ups) as Frankenstein’s Monster, and Steve Buscemi (Mr Deeds) and Molly Shannon (Never Been Kissed) as werewolves; and is due to be released on September 12th 2012 in the US, and on October 19th 2012 in the UK.
