Best known for her role as Annie in Community, Alison Brie will soon be headlining the upcoming Netflix Original comedy/drama series G.L.O.W.; a show which takes it’s inspiration from real-life, 1980s, wrestling league the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling.
Created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, the show focusses on a league which was billed as a female alternative to the male-dominated World Wrestling Federation (the WWF – no know as the WWE), and the four-season-long Las Vegas-based TV it spawned; full of songs, sketches, bravado, gorgeous ladies, and, of course, wrestling.
Netflix has commissioned a 10 episode first season, due to be produced by Orange Is The New Black‘s Jenji Kohan, which will see Brie playing a struggling Los Angeles actress who lands a part in the league, and will likely stream sometime late next year.
