Director Robert Rodriguez may still end up only co-directing the upcoming sequel to his immensely fun, OTT, Mexploitation movie Machete, but is already assembling a rather fitting cast, and has just added two new names to the Machete Kills cast-list; including Amber Heard, and Sofia Vergara.
Joining the likes of returning stars Danny Trejo (who’s once again playing the titular ex-Federale Machete, and will find himself tracking down an arms dealer for the US government in the new movie), Michelle Rodriguez, and Jessica Alba, along with Mel Gibson (the Lethal Weapon star who’ll be playing a notorious arms dealer) and Demian Bichir (A Better Life), Amber Heard (Drive Angry) will be popping up as an assassin named miss San Antonio, while The Three Stooges’ Sofia Vergara will be playing a woman named Madame Desdemona (who possesses some vital intel Machete will need to complete his mission), in Machete Kills; which begins production later this month, ahead of an unconfirmed release date next year.
