After the success of male-stripper movie Magic Mike (a semi-biographical piece charting star Channing Tatum’s years as a male stripper) a sequel was inevitable, and looks to be gaining steam; as not only has Jada Pinkett Smith (Collateral) recently entered talks to join the cast, but Drive Angry star Amber Heard has just been handed a lead role.
Tatum (fresh off the success of smash-hit comedy 22 Jump Street, which has just had its own sequel confirmed) will be stepping back into the role of Magic Mike once again, and will once again be joined by Joe Manganiello (the True Blood star last seen in Sabotage), Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four), and Matt Bomer (White Collar), though it doesn’t look like Matthew McConaughey will be returning for Magic Mike XXL when it’s released on July 1st next year in the US, ahead of the official UK release date on August 7th 2015.
