It’s been rumoured for quite sometime now, and with Ubisoft announcing back in May that it would be opening its own film company; designed to make movies from its most popular games (including the likes of Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon); it should come as no surprise that the new studio has just partnered with Sony, for a planned big screen adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.
As of yet there’s no director, or even a writer, attached to the film (so we’re a ways off casting announcements at this point), but given the game’s inbuilt fan base, the intriguing plot (which sees an average bartender kidnapped and forced to relive the memories of his ancient ancestors by a strange and mysterious company called Abstergo), and the fact that Sony seem to be fairly keen to churn out game-related movies at the minute (already having adaptations of both Drake’s Fortune and InFamous in the works), it shouldn’t be too long before Assassin’s Creed takes the next step.
