After fans were left extremely disappointed to recently learn the new Assassin’s Creed film would be based mainly in the present day (unlike the video game series, which places the majority of the action in the past), we’ve now been treated to a glorious (and especially game-like) new poster for the film available to view below.
Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Apocalypse) headlines as a violent drifter name Callum Lynch, who finds himself held by a shady corporation (Abstergo Industries) and forced into a machine known as the Animus where he re-lives the deeds of his 15th century ancestor; an assassin named Aguilar happily offing various Templars during the Spanish Inquisition; so Abstergo can learn some key information from him.
Director Justin Kurzel is using the film as a mini-Macbeth reunion, with himself, Fassbender, and Marion Cotillard all taking part. Jeremy Irons (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Brendan Gleeson (The Guard), and Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire) will also co-star when Assassin’s Creed is released on December 21st in the US, before making its official UK release date on December 26th (Boxing Day).
