Adapted from the classic board game Battleship (yes, the “you’ve sunk my battleship” game we all know, and therefore apparently craved a movie adaptation of), the new movie from Hancock director Peter Berg (ingeniously titled Battleship) has just had its first trailer released online; which is now available to view below.
Starring Liam Neeson (Taken), Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), Taylor Kitsch (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Josh Pence (The Social Network), Brooklyn Decker (Just Go With It), and Rhianna (the umbrella obsessed singer), the film focusses on a Naval fleet which embarks on a seemingly ordinary exercise, until they stumble across what turns out to be a strange spacecraft (that apparently doesn’t like to be touched), have all their radars knocked out, and begin blindly firing at B4, G3, and plenty of other grid locations until either all the battleships, or alien crafts, have been sunk (or either side runs out of white pegs).
Battleship is due to be released in both the US and UK on May 18th, 2012.
