Based on the Stephen King story which sees 99% of the world’s population killed off by a deadly virus and a small band of survivors attempting to survive in a treacherous post-apocalyptic world, The Stand may have found a new director; as Warner Bros. and Vertigo Entertainment are reportedly trying to get Ben Affleck (The Town) to take own the job.
Yet while the studio executives may be keen on getting Affleck to sign on, no deals have yet been signed, and Ben clearly has almost infinite options; as since the release of The Town his name has been thrown around as a potential director for a number of high-profile projects (despite his rather short directorial CV); meaning there’s still chance a new director could be brought in to make The Stand before long.
