Still riding out his hard-man/action star image, Jason Statham (star of The Mechanic, The Expendables, and numerous other action titles including The Transporter series) has recently been attached to play Donald Westlake’s Parker in an upcoming film, but can soon be seen in the British crime movie Blitz; a film about a serial killer who has a thing for taking out cops.
Adapted from the Ken Bruen novel of the same name, Blitz follows a rough-and-ready cop, who’s not afraid of using a little excessive force to get what he wants (Statham), and his by-the-book partner (Paddy Considine, The Bourne Ultimatum), who hunt openly taunts the London bobby’s as he’s offing their friends, and decides one of the most important things to do once he’s arrested is to update his Facebook status (as you do).
Moon scribe Nathan Parker has written the script for the film, which was directed by Elliott Lester (best known for directing music videos), is the first movie to have been produced by Lionsgate UK, stars Aiden Gillen (The Wire); as the ruthless cop-killer; and is due to be released on May 20th in the UK, and doesn’t currently have a US release date confirmed.
The latest clip from the film; which as you might expect from a Jason Statham movie, features the Stath single-handedly beating up a gang of people with ease (even if they are only kids); can be seen below, and the film’s official trailer can be found here.
