Since first gracing our screens as the mild-mannered chemistry teacher turned crystal meth cook, and high-profile drug dealer Walter White, back in 2008, Bryan Cranston has captured the hearts of everyone who’s seen the criminally underrated (at least in the UK) Breaking Bad, yet there are only a further 16 episodes (spread over two years, and two mini-seasons) left to go before the series finishes its run and leaves us forever, or maybe not; as Cranston himself recently hinted at the possibility of a Breaking Bad movie being developed.
While at this stage such a thing is merely here-say, conjecture, and simple wishful thinking, it still poses an interesting question as to not only where the series could end its TV run, but what form a Breaking Bad movie could take. It’s been stated that creator Vince Gilligan was originally worried about filled the remaining 16 episodes with enough goodies to not only keep us interested, but also maintain the superb level of quality Breaking Bad fans have become accustomed to, yet Cranston now believes the team now have the opposite problem, with the writers brilliant efforts ensuring that “Vince now feels we have too much story.”
While Cranston doesn’t know how the show is going to end, when quizzed on the possibility of a possible feature film he stated that not only is it “not far-fetched” but that “maybe we could revisit Walter White a year down the road and see where his life has gone. If He’s still alive that is.”
Breaking Bad season three was recently released on DVD in the UK, season four is available now for pre-order (due to be released in October), and though there’s currently no UK air date for season five, it premieres in the US on July 15, and will hopefully filter across the pond sometime fairly shortly thereafter.
