With the final eight episodes of Breaking Bad set to air this coming summer, AMC have been looking for a way to extended the universe of Walter White, and give fans of the show something to look forward to after it leaves our screens for good; and it appears as though a spin-off show may be the way to do it.
Placing Walt’s lawyer Saul Goodman (played by Bob Odenkirk) at the forefront of the potential series (which would take the name of his catchphrase – Better Call Saul!), AMC could be taking the show in a fairly different direction to that of Breaking Bad; especially given as Saul is largely used for a spot of comedic relief, in a show which has become increasingly tense and bleak as the years have gone on.
It’s not clear exactly what shape or form the possible spin-off would take, as AMC are apparently considering it from all angles; with a half-hour comedy being mentioned, an hour-long drama, or any other possibility; though thankfully for fans at least, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan would be on board to help create and shape the new show, and would also be joined by Breaking Bad writer/producer Peter Gould (who helped create Saul), should it eventually get the green light.
