Due to be directed by John M. Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never), the upcoming sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (titled G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation) looks to be adding yet another high-profile actor to its cast-list; with Die-Hard veteran Bruce Willis currently in talks to take on the role of the original G.I. Joe himself.
Provided talks go well Willis will be appearing as the man who, in the 1980s comics, started the G.I. Joe strike team (the ultimate freedom fighting force); General Joe Colton; and will join a cast that already includes the likes of Channing Tatum (The Eagle), Dwayne Johnson (Faster), Adrianne Palicki (Legion), Ray Stevenson (Kill the Irishman), and Joseph Mazzello (Jurassic Park).
Filming is due to begin later this month; on location in New Orleans; ahead of a release date which is scheduled for June 29th 2012 in the US, and at a similar, yet unconfirmed, time in the UK (a slot which was originally reserved for the now delayed Star Trek sequel).
