Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston, a man who’s seemingly swapped his numerous television awards for regular big screen award nods (most recently for Trumbo), has just been cast as Zordon; the guardian and mentor of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, in the upcoming Power Rangers movie.
Cranston actually voiced a number of characters on the original Power Rangers TV show (notably Twinman and Snizzard), and even had a ranger named after him (Blue Ranger Billy Cranston), so he’s no stranger to the franchise, but still an interesting and somewhat unexpected addition to the film which is being directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), co-stars Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) as the villainous Rita Repulsa, has relative newcomers RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott and Dacre Montgomery starring as the titular Rangers, and is due to be released in March 2017.
