While news recently broke that Bourne star Matt Damon was up for a role in The Great Wall (the upcoming Chinese epic from Hero director Yimou Zhang), another name has just been talked about; as Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston (last seen in Godzilla) has now entered early talks for an unspecified role.
While it may have been through a couple of script drafts, a different director, and stayed in development for a couple of years, things seems to be moving ahead with the film which has had its latest script written by Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Ultimatum), and will aim to tell the tale of how large chunks of the Great Wall of China came to be built (after originally being constructed as a means of protecting the Northern borders of the Chinese Empire, the wall went through numerous demolitions and rebuilds).
