With the onslaught of marketing that Marvel have thrown out in order to promote their big summer tentpole; Captain America: The First Avenger; most people already know that the film is based on the comic-book hero of the same name (a weedy man named Steve Rogers who enters a super-soldier program during World War II; is promptly turned into the epitome of human perfection, handed an indestructible, star-spangled, shield, and promptly thrown at the Nazi’s), but won’t have seen the film’s latest poster, or TV spot, both of which can be seen below.
Chris Evans (Scott Pilgrim) stars as the titular hero, in the Joe Johnston (Jumanji) directed movie that pits him against Hugo Weaving’s (The Matrix) Red Skull, alongside Tommy Lee Jones (Volcano), Hayley Atwell (The Pillars of the Earth), Stanley Tucci (Burlesque), Natalie Dormer (The Tudors), and Richard Armitage (Spooks).
Promising to be one of the biggest, most America-loving, spectacle-filled, films of the summer, Captain America: The First Avenger is due to be released in the US on July 22nd, and will make its UK debut on July 29th.
