Captain America Trailer

We’ve seen posters, plenty of news, and even got the first glimpse of footage back in February (courtesy of a short Super Bowl TV spot), but now Marvel Studios’ summer tentpole movie; Captain America: The First Avenger; has finally had its first theatrical trailer released online (which is now available to view below).

As most readers will know by now, Captain America is based on the Marvel comic series of the same name and features a sickly young man named Steve Rogers (Chris Evans, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) who gets turned away from armed service during World War II, before signing up to an experimental Super Soldier program that sees him pumped full of experimental steroids, turned into the epitome of human perfection, and promptly sent to the front lines as the ultimate, flag-wearing, Nazi-fighting, machine; Captain America.

The majority of the new trailer basically showcases the entire origin story; where Steve goes from sickly weed to amped up fighting machine; throws in a good deal of action, has a voiceover by Tommy Lee Jones (who stars as General Chester Phillips; the overseer of the Super Soldier project), and provides the first real look at the film’s villain; an evil Nazi scientist called Johann Schmidt (better known as the Red Skull, and played by The Matrix’s Hugo Weaving), who is himself experimenting with some newfound technology to aid the Nazi war effort.

Stanley Tucci (Burlesque), Hayley Atwell (The Pillars of the Earth), Richard Armitage (Spooks), Dominic Cooper (The Duchess), and Natalie Dormer (The Tudors), will also be appearing in the Joe Johnston (Jumanji) directed movie that’s due to be released on July 22nd in the U.S., and will be making its way to the U.K. the following week; for a release date of July 29th.
