Whilst millions of viewers across the country wished, and prayed, that it was finally over, the consistently high ratings ensured that Channel 4’s Big Brother just kept coming back for one last outing (with everything but a promise ensuring that nearly every season was its last), but even though the network has dropped the show, Big Brother isn’t dead, and will be making a comeback later this year.
Moving homes to Channel 5; as part of a deal reportedly worth £200 million (over two years); Big Brother will return with a celebrity special in August, and although no celebrity guests have been officially confirmed as yet, one name is clearly topping the wish-list, and being actively pursued by the show’s producers; Charlie Sheen, the self-promoting ex-Two and a Half Men star, who’s become something of a phenomenon thanks to his recent antics, and is currently engaging in his live tour (titled the Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option tour) across the US, which is gaining some extremely mixed reviews.
Other potential guests for the celebrity special include Mohamed al-Fayed (the famed businessman who’s eldest son was romantically involved with the late Princess Diana), Amy Childs (The Only Way is Essex), and Prince Harry’s “on-off girlfriend” Chelsy Davy; who would all be appearing in the August special, which is set to conclude before a more traditional 13-week run of the series (with guests plucked from the streets of Britain), begins in September.
