Chris Evans Replacing James Franco In The Iceman

Based on the real-life of devoted family man/contract killer Richard Kuklinski, the upcoming crime thriller The Iceman has just had a last minute amendment made to its cast-list; as James Franco (127 Hours) has now left the project, and been replaced by Chris Evans (Captain America).

The Iceman will star Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) as the titular killer, David Schwimmer (Friends) as another gun-for-hire, Ray Liotta (Goodfellas) as a mob boss, and Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight) as Kuklinski’s loving yet ignorantly innocent wife, with the recently cast Evans picking up the part of Kuklinski’s mentor Robert Pronge.

Due to be directed by Ariel Vromen (Dankia), The Iceman has been adapted from Anthony Bruno’s true crime novel The Iceman: The Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer, is rumoured to co-star Sons of Anarchy’s Tommy Flannagan, and is due to be released sometime in 2013.
