Whilst not officially confirmed at this point, Deadline are apparently “confident” that Total Recall reboot star Colin Farrell will be cast as one of the leads in the upcoming second season of HBO’s gritty drama True Detective.
Undoubtedly a highly sought after job, since the first season saw both Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey picking up award nominations for their work on the show, and didn’t need to place their movie careers on hold to appear in it, series creator Nic Pizzolatto has confirmed True Detective’s second season will have four main protagonists; with Farrell looking likely to pick up one of those leading roles, and Taylor Kitsch (John Carter) currently rumoured for another.
Some time ago there was also talk of Jessica Chastain (The Help) taking a prominent role in the next season, though this has been denied by her reps, and remained quiet for sometime, and whilst we don’t know who else could be joining the cast, HBO president Michael Lombardo and CEO Richard Plepler has confirmed that “some announcements will be happening in the next week.”
