It’s one of those long-gestating projects which just can’t seem to generate any traction and, despite looking as if things were finally moving one step closer to production, Relativity’s planned reboot of The Crow has been delayed again by the loss of its lead actor; The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies star Luke Evans (who’s simply left in order to take on other work).
With the Brandon Lee original movie remaining an enduring cult classic, and comic-book movies becoming increasingly bankable by the month, the remake of The Crow is unlikely to disappear. And although there’s no lead actor in place to portray the tortured soul of the vengeful Eric Draven (resurrected a year after his death in order to seek vengeance for the murder of him and fiancee), the reboot still has a director attached; Corin Hardy (best known for his music videos, commercials, and upcoming debut movie The Hallow); and so will likely look to replace Luke Evans as soon as possible.
