Unknown to many, Cuchulain is one of the central characters in the Northern Irish legend of the Ulster Cycle, and will soon be seen on screen in the upcoming film Cuchulian; which is currently being developed by none other than Michael Fassbender (Shame).
Fassbender is currently hammering out the script (with a little help from Public Enemies’ Ronan Bennett), and figuring out a way to tell the 8th century tale of two warring tribes; the Ulaid tribe, and their bitter rivals the Connachta tribe (led by King Conchobar and Queen Mebh respectively); with Cuchulain being the nephew of King Conchobar, and a warrior with amazing fighting skill.
Cuchulain is still in the pre-pubescent stages of development at the moment, though Fassbender-fans won’t have to wait too long to see him on screen again; as he’ll soon be seen in the eagerly anticipated Prometheus; which is due to be released on June 1st in the UK, and on June 8th in the US.
