We all knew it was heading down this road, as even though the Tim Burton movies may having scored a 15, and the slew of trailers for The Dark Knight Rises make Batman’s outing look a fair shade darker than anything that has come before, The Dark Knight was a 12A, and now, thanks to the BBFC, we know that The Dark Knight Rises is a 12A also.
Gaining the 12A rating for “moderate violence” The Dark Knight Rises is inching ever closer to its release date, and will be coming to cinemas with a hefty running time of 164 minutes and 27 seconds (the best part of three hours), a full 12 minutes longer than The Dark Knight (which only managed 152 minutes).
Promising to be an ‘epic conclusion’, The Dark Knight Rises will be the final chapter in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy, and will see Christian Bale returning to the hero’s role in order to battle infamous Bat-villians Bane (Tom Hardy, Inception), and Catwoman (Anne Hathaway, The Devil Wears Prada), in one of the year’s most anticipated films, which is due to be released on July 20th in both the US and UK.
