Despite the prolific actor, writer, director, and photographer Dennis Hopper; of Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, and Speed; still being a bankable Hollywood name, his final unseen movie ‘The Last Film Festival’ was never finished, and has now gone down the Kickstarter route in order to finish production.
Launched by The Last Film Festival’s writer Linda Yellin (The Simian Line), the campaign hopes to raise $90,000 in order to complete and release the film which ceased production due to Dennis’ unforeseen death back in 2010; an event which not only left several scenes from the film unfinished, but both cast and crew suffering from the loss of a friend, and true driving force behind their film.
Hoping to release the film on the festival circuit later this year (the fifth anniversary of Dennis’ death), and eventually score distribution for a wider release, the campaign is now running and offers a number of incentives for those donating various amounts (ranging from delivered soundtracks, signed posters, and copies of the script, up to co-producer credits, and a Skype session with the stars of the film).
