Die Hard, Die Harder, and Die Hard With a Vengeance were all perfectly acceptable names for the first three films in the action franchise starring Bruce Willis as the bald NYC cop/one-man-terrorist-stopping-army John McClane, though fans weren’t entirely thrilled with the title for his fourth outing (Live Free or Die Hard), and will be presumably unimpressed by the title of his fifth adventure; as 20th Century Fox have just announced that the official title for Die Hard 5 will be; A Good Day to Die Hard.
John Moore (Max Payne) is due to direct the Skip Woods (Swordfish) scripted film; which places John in Russia, and sees him once again fighting a large band of terrorists, this time alongside his wayward son (who’s yet to be cast, and actually starts the film in a Russian jail), suggesting Fox could be looking for someone to eventually take over the franchise and become the new unluckiest man on the planet.
There’s no word yet as to whether the title will remain intact in the UK, or if A Good Day to Die Hard will simply turn into Die Hard 5 (as Live Free or Die Hard simply became Die Hard 4.0 in Britain), or if the Brits can expect the same release date as US Die Hard fans; who can expect to see the film released on February 14th 2013 (because Die Hard 5 is obviously the perfect date night movie for a Valentine’s Day release).
