Django Unchained, the upcoming western from Pulp Fiction writer/director Quentin Tarantino (who only has to put his name to a film in order to make it one of the most eagerly anticipated movies currently being produced; as evident in this teaser poster), is creeping ever closer, and in order to keep it fresh in movie-goers minds two new photos from the film have just been released online (now available to view below).
With a hugely impressive cast that boasts the likes of Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction), Kurt Russell (Escape From New York), Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds), Don Johnson (Machete), James Remar (Dexter), Walton Goggins (Justified) and more, Django follows the titular freed slave Django (Jamie Foxx, The Kingdom) as he takes on the sadistic ranch owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio, Inception) in order to be reunited with his slave wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington, Ray).
Foxx insists that Django is “not trying to cure or solve slavery” and that “all he wants to do is get his wife, and get his life back”; suggesting we can expect more of a straight-up action/revenge movie rather than a deep and involving film tackling the issues of the slave trade, when Django Unchained is released on Christmas Day in the US, and on January 18th in the UK.
