Dredd, Judge Dredd, the baddest, gruffest Lawman the future has ever seen will be making his way back onto the big screen later this year in the impending reboot Dredd, which has just had its first official trailer released online (now available to view below).
With Karl Urban (Star Trek) stepping into the role once occupied by Sylvester Stallone, and playing the iconic Judge who gets to utter the immortal line “I am the Law!”, Dredd has been adapted from the classic 2000AD comics, is set in a world where the majority of the Earth is an apocalyptic wasteland, save for a handful of overcrowded, crime-sticken, Mega Cities, and will see the future-cop Judge Dredd (who, like all other Judge’s, gets to act as Judge, Jury, and Executioner, in a future effort to speed up the legal system) becoming trapped in a huge tower block, with an army of doped-up drug dealers and criminals all itching to kill him.
Alongside rookie judge Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby, Juno), Dredd will have to traverse the 200-floor-high block in order to face scarred drug baron Ma-Ma (Lena Headey, Game of Thrones), in the film which sounds more than a little bit like the recently released action movie The Raid, and is due to be released on September 7th in the UK, before making its US release date on September 21st.
