Everybody knows the classic tale of David and Goliath; the young shepherd boy who took down a mighty giant with one rock from his slingshot; which comes from a little known book called The Bible, yet writer/director Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) is aiming to re-tell the tale in movie-form, and has his eye on two high-profile leads actors; Dwayne Johnson, and Taylor Lautner.
It’s not difficult to imagine Fast Five’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the towering Goliath, and Twilight’s Taylor Lautner as David; the kid ballsy enough to challenge the hulking Goliath to a fight; though as yet neither have been officially cast, as despite being heavily coveted for the roles, the production teams are still in the early stages of development, and have a few issues to sort through first.
One of the main sticking points in hiring both actors comes with their price tags; as both Johnson and Lautner command upwards of $10 million dollars (with the final wage packet being dependent on the specifics of the job), and are now gaining increasingly busy schedules, however, if negotiations do go well, Goliath (as the film will be known) will come with a few hordes of in-built fans, and could end up joining Darren Aronofsky’s (The Wrestler) planned Noah project as a biblical one-to-watch.
