After stepping away from child-friendly fare; such as The Tooth Fairy; and back into the action genre; with movies life Faster, and Fast Five; it now appears that Dwayne Johnson will be venturing into a new genre; the action-lite drama; for a biopic of country music legend Charley Pride.
Johnson (formerly known as The Rock) has recently signed on to not only star in the biopic, but also produce the movie about a man who’s earned an impressive 39 number-one hit singles, became the best-selling artist at RCA Records since Elvis (in 1970), and has since been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
There’s plenty of background for the film to explore; with pride being only one of 11 children in his family, beginning a career in baseball before moving into the music scene, and suffering with manic depression despite his massive success; although as of yet there’s no official release date, or start date, for the film; unlike Johnson’s next movie Snitch, which will enter production shortly.
