The incessantly busy Dwayne Johnson has signed on for yet another film; the release of his action/comedy Central Intelligence is already imminent, he’s done with Baywatch, already working on Fast 8, and has a Jumaiji remake lined up, but that’s not enough for The Rock; as he’s now confirmed for Shane Black’s Doc Savage.
Black (Iron Man 3) is co-writing and directing the film which will see Johnson playing [in his own words] “A F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO.” Said weirdo, Doc Savage, being the original comic book inspiration for Superman; known as the Man of Bronze, he’s also called Clark and has his own Fortress of Solitude, and was hugely popular in the ’30s and ’40s.
With no word on exactly when the cameras will start rolling (let alone a release date), there will still be plenty of Dwayne on the big screen in the coming months, and even a fantastic new Shane Black movie to see as The Nice Guys is released in the UK this Friday (June 3rd).
