Now that The Hangover series has officially come to an end, the stars are understandably looking for work elsewhere, and although Stu (or Ed Helms as he likes to be known in real life) has already headlined We’re The Millers, he’s not done yet, and has just signed on to take the lead role in the upcoming Naked Gun remake.
While younger readers may not even remember the frankly brilliant Naked Gun trilogy (and the accompanying Police Squad!) spoofs, fans who do remember the Leslie Nielsen classics will be screaming sacrilege at the mere thought of remaking the infinitely quotable slapstick comedies.
Helms is due to star as Nielsen’s infamous, clutz-of-a-detective, Frank Drebin, though other than the casting announcement, and the knowledge that Night At The Museum writers Thomas Lennon and R. Ben Garant will be tackling the script, there’s still very little known about Paramount’s planned Police Squad! spoof-movie remake.
