Starring Kingsman’s Taron Egerton and Wolverine’s Hugh Jackman, Eddie The Eagle will soon grace the big screen, and tell the tale of one of Britain’s most unlikely athletes; as seen in the official Eddie The Eagle trailer below.
Directed by Dexter Fletcher (Sunshine on Leith), Eddie The Eagle tells the tale of Eddie Edwards; a ski-jumper ranked 55th in the world, he was at one time Britain’s best hope for triumph in the Winter Olympics (despite being overweight compared to other contestants, needing to wear glasses, and suffering from a huge fear of heights), and became a household name thanks to his unwavering spirit and enthusiasm.
Egerton stars as Eddie, with Jackman picking up the part of his coach and mentor Chuck Berghorn, in the film which will take a few liberties with the facts of Eddie’s journey while playing on his relentless optimism, and also co-starring Christopher Walken and Tim McInnerny.
Eddie The Eagle is due to be released on April 1st next year (yes… April Fool’s Day).
