After appearing in X-Men: Days Of Future Past last year, and soon to be back on the big screen (in the US at least) in Freeheld, Ellen Page has just entered talks for her next film; potentially starring in a reboot of 1990s sci-fi movie Flatliners.
Starring Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Keifer Sutherland, William Baldwin, and Oliver Platt, the original Flatliners saw a group of medical students dabbling with near death experiences (hence the title; Flatliners; as they’ve push each other to the brink of death, flatlining before their colleagues resurrected them), and will likely take a similar (though undoubtedly updated) look at the premise when Source Code writer Ben Ripley’s script eventually makes it onto the screen.
As of yet, there’s no release date or director set; Niels Arden Oplev was attached two years ago, although it’s unclear if that’s still the case; nevertheless, it appears as if Sony are still planning on moving ahead with the project (which has now been in development for at least four years).
Page can also soon be seen starring in Into The Forest (the tale of two women who live in an ancient forest attempting to stave off a rumoured apocalypse), and Tallulah (a film about a dissatisfied housewife who hires a babysitter so she can spend less time with her toddler).
