Despite being almost universally panned by critics, and met with a collective groan by audiences, Terminator: Genisys eventually turned a fair profit ($440 million – thanks in large part to the Chinese market), though it’s planned sequels were rather unceremoniously dropped from Paramount’s release schedule (due to poor reception and domestic Box Office figures), and now star Emilia Clarke has said she will not be returning for any future Terminator films (or past ones… you know, because of the timeline thing).
Promoting Game Of Thrones season 6, Clarke was asked if she would return to the role of Sarah Connor, and emphatically stated “No.” She then asked “Can I say that? It’s okay. No. Uh-uh. But I have some very different roles coming up.”
Currently there’s no word on ay upcoming Terminator sequels, though Skydance still has the option to make more Terminator films until 2019 – before the rights revert back to original creator, and Terminator 1 and 2 director James Cameron (though we wouldn’t expect him to rush out a worthwhile T3 anytime soon, if ever, as he’ll busy with the Avatar sequels for quite some time).
